Stan C. Newberry, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Director, Air Force Command and Control Integration Center, Langley Air Force Base, VA. As a Direct Reporting Unit to Air Combat Command, the center defines requirements, sets standards, identifies priorities, budgets and advocates for enterprise wide command and control capabilities. The center is responsible for leading the integration of Air Force C2 systems across air, space and cyberspace platforms resulting in delivery, sustainment and modernization of warfighting capability in the field. The center manages a $230 million budget and comprises 348 military, civilian and contractor personnel.
Mr. Newberry served many years with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration prior to his transition to the Air Force. He has served and directed activities at all levels including Director, program manager and project manager. He began his NASA career at the Kennedy Space Center, Fla., and was later assigned to NASA Headquarters, Washington, D.C. In 1998, Mr. Newberry became Director of Space Operations, Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas, where he was responsible for the management and operation of control facilities, communications and specific operations throughout NASA.
He later served as the Senior NASA Representative to Air Force Space Command in Colorado Springs and was responsible for communications and collaborations between NASA and the Air Force. He served as adviser to the Commander, Air Force Space Command and NORTHCOM on all NASA matters. In 2003, Mr. Newberry was assigned to the NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, Va., after the Shuttle Columbia accident and assisted in the stand-up of the NASA Engineering and Safety Center. Mr. Newberry's last position within NASA was as the Deputy Director of the Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif., NASA's leading information technology center.
