Mr. William Piazza is the Configuration Manager, Joint Architecture and Capability Engineering Division at U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM), J8 Joint Capabilities Development Directorate, Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Piazza retired from the U.S. Navy after 24 years in 2006 and has been a Department of Defense (DoD) civilian since. Mr. Piazza spent 12 of those years living and working in 4 different European countries directly supporting NATO partners as part of his naval career. His previous civilian experience includes work in architectures and information systems management at Combat Direction System Activity Dam Neck, Virginia, Joint National Training Capability (JNTC) J7 USJFCOM, and Joint Combat Capability Developer (JCCD), USJFCOM J8. Mr. Piazza’s primary role is configuration management of architecture products and the environments used to support architecture development. Mr. Piazza has led the Joint Architecture Integration Working Group (JAIWG) Architecture Federation and Integration Project since 2008. This project works with Combatant Commanders, Services and Agencies to identify reusable methodologies for federation of DoD Joint Architectures and development of the technical solutions to support architecture federation.
Mr. Piazza was born in Bristol, Connecticut and currently resides in Chesapeake, Virginia with his wife Linda. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland University College and his Chief Information Officer and Information Assurance NSTISSI 4011 Certificates from the National Defense University Information Resources Management College.
