As the Director of Enterprise Architecture & Emerging Technology for the Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer (DON CIO), Mr. Jacobs is responsible for leading the development of an actionable and practicable enterprise architecture for the Department of the Navy (DON). In addition, Mr. Jacobs is responsible for the development of strategies and policies related to emerging technologies and social media and their use across the DON. Mr. Jacobs joined the DON CIO in March of 2001 as the DON Data Architecture Project Lead. He has also served within the DON CIO as the Director of IT Infrastructure and the Director of Enterprise Architecture, Standards and Infrastructure.
Prior to working for the DON CIO Mr. Jacobs was the Heavyweight Torpedo Engineering Manager for the U.S. Navy’s Program Executive Office for Submarines. In this position he was responsible for all hardware, software and electronics upgrades for the Fleet’s premier submarine launched torpedo. Prior to that assignment he held various engineering and project management positions within the DON. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Union College in Schenectady, New York.
